A small-scale public artwork notable for its truly collaborative and uniquely collaged approach. To develop the composition Doug met with over 250 grade seven students from the Sylvan Lake area to brainstorm content for the final narrative. The artwork celebrates this collaboration, depicting 100 years of Sylvan Lake history through a selection of juried student work and Doug’s own painting. Prominently installed in Sylvan Lake’s City Hall, the installation is structurally dimensional, using collaged elements that are float-mounted on top of background art.
