Emotionally recovering from the death of his partner of 41 years, Doug began to start his mornings at an assortment of coffee shops, indulging his passion for expertly-crafted espresso. As this was the spring and summer seasons, he’d been collecting feathers he’d found on walks, which were added to by gifts of others from friends and family. What resulted was a series of watercolours of these specimens painted at their actual size, executed in coffee shops, physically ‘watermarked’ with the maker’s brew and labelled as such.
